I am glad you are interested in working with us. Here at Ofqual we are passionate about qualifications. We believe that all the qualifications we regulate should be of the right standard, so that those taking them can be confident that they are good quality, and worthwhile.
We have made a significant difference since we were established as the independent regulator in 2010: we maintain the standard of GCSE and A level results consistently, we are implementing significant changes to GCSEs and A levels effectively, and we deal with the shortcomings of individual qualification providers increasingly robustly. And as we do these things, we maintain our independence from Government. But there is so much more we can and intend to do, so that all qualifications are of the right quality. Do take a look at our plans.
We have a great team here, but to be successful we need to recruit yet more good people, people with the competence and commitment to join us and do the important job that we do.
Our structure is organised around what we set out to achieve in our plans, with four directorates:
- Strategy, Risk and Research: Develops our strategy, ensuring a risk-based approach throughout the organisation and undertaking research and analysis to inform strategic decision making and the maintenance of standards.
- Vocational Qualifications : Accountable for leading and delivering our strategy for vocational qualifications.
- General Qualifications: Accountable for leading and delivering our strategy for GCSEs, AS and A levels.
- Regulatory Compliance and Business Support: Delivery of regulatory compliance activity and providing business services to help us to achieve our strategic objectives.
